WHAT’S NEXT?!
SELLING KABUL 2023

I’m back at Premiere Stages where theatre sings the songs of the least heard. I am thrilled to work on such a meaningful piece, with such a talented cast. Here’s the blurb from Premiere Stages’ website. “Taroon once served as an interpreter for the U.S. military in Afghanistan. Now it is 2013, and the Americans — and their promises of safety — have begun to withdraw. Taroon spends his days in hiding, a target of the increasingly powerful Taliban. On the eve of his son’s birth, he must remain in his sister’s apartment, or risk his life to see his child. With shattering precision, Sylvia Khoury’s tense drama traces the human cost and the legacy of our longest war.” Go check it out and come see us at the Understudy Showcase!

ANNA IN THE TROPICS

dir. Ernest Wiggins, asst. dir. René Mayo
Video filmed by Isaiah Gray of GraySkies Photography. Produced and edited by René Mayo.
January – February 2020 I assistant directed the play Anna in the Tropics, the 2003 Pulitzer Prize winning play by Nilo Cruz.
Set in the center of the cigar industry in Ybor City in Tampa, Florida, a family-owned and operated Cuban cigar factory continues the tradition of having a lector read to them. One family member fights for modernization in favor of machines rolling more cigars faster and giving the lector the boot which in his mind is unnecessary and troublesome.
Throughout the play, the lector reads from Anna Karenina, a novel by Leo Tolstoy. As they each identify with characters in the novel they are forced to deal with issues in their lives and relationships, but not before things get out of control. For more info click here.
ACTING IN THE THEATRE

Through the month of September, I understudied the role of Yasmina in Rohina Malik’s play Yasmina’s Necklace directed by Kareem Fahmy! Yay! This story is so true to life and one that many need to see and see the likes of in order to get back to the point where we each know that it is okay to love ourselves as we are and to teach the world to love us as we are.

We did it!!! (Ah, when “Hold for laughter” becomes so real.) I am honored to have been cast in Conspiracy of Love, by Philip J. Kaplan. It was a hit! My lovely and talented co-star Beba Zilkic and I gave it our all under the direction of Brianna Martinez, a very bright, beautiful, and creative director who’s on her way!
TEACHING ARTISTRY

As a Teaching Artist with George Street Playhouse, I am at home with my soul yearning to be one with a loving group in the spirit of cooperation, education, and fun. GSP has amazing programs in theatre, musical theatre, and school residencies that not only teach theatre and cooperation through ensemble work but also teach great life skills and broaden knowledge in general.

READINGS

directed by John J. Wooten.

January 23, 2020 I had the pleasure of performing the role of the final love interest of Julie d’Aubigny in the staged reading of Fight Like a Girl by Emily Conklin, winner of the Bauer Baucher Alumni Playwriting Award and directed by John J. Wooten, author of The Role of Della and other plays. Fight Like a Girl explores the adventures of a 17th Century female sword fighter and opera singer as she struggles with love, loss and finding her place in the world.
This play is powerful. Look out for more from Premiere in the development of this one!

Directed by Jade King Carroll

I had the honor of performing along side Roscoe Ormon, one of my childhood idols!
In 1919, Paul Robeson (Robey to his college friends) was asked to give the valedictory address at Rutgers University. As the first African American student to be selected for this honor, he was very conflicted about the tone and message of the monumental speech. Robey explores his journey as he prepares his remarks, overcoming the doubts and fears that filled a young man at a pivotal point in New Jersey’s history.
This play will be fully produced in an upcoming season and I hope to be part of it somehow!

Shout! is a collection of Susanna Rich’s original poetry written from the points of view of core suffragist figures ranging from the 1848 Seneca Falls Woman’s Rights Convention and the 1920 Tennessee ratification of the Susan B. Specializing in writing historical poetry, Susanna transforms carefully researched material into four-dimensional, you-are-here experiences for readers and audiences.
COMIC WORLD

I’m at Annual Black Label Comicon, starting August 2019 at the Hampton Inn Hotel, Philly Convention Center. Founded by Erick M.
